Sylvia Diane Harris Sherrod

Mrs. Sylvia Diane Harris Sherrod, age 62, of 3920 London Church Road, Elm City, NC transitioned to her heavenly home on Wednesday, October 7, 2020.  Graveside service will be Saturday, October 17, 2020 at 11 am at Rest Haven Cemetery.  The Rev. Norvell Cooper will officiate.

She is survived by her husband, Charles Sherrod of the home; her daughters, Shemica Shavon Sherrod   and Jessica Odett Sherrod both of Wilson, NC; her sons, Demetrius DeCarlo Harris of Los Angeles, CA and Desmond Deon Harris of Elm City, NC; her parents, Jesse and Odessa Harris of Wilson, NC; fourteen grandchildren, Vaughn Rico Harris, Demetrius DeCarlo Harris, II, Desmond Pettaway, Brianna Barnes, Promise Harris, Brandi Sherrod, Ahniree Sherrod, Ricci Sherrod, Zihyeir Sherrod , Zayah Sherrod, Christian Yelverton, Trelynn Yelverton, Shandre Yelverton, and Prudence Yelverton; four sisters, Patricia Dobbins (Tony) of Atlanta, GA, Beatrice Usher of Dudley, NC, Tracy Cannady (Anthony) of  Richmond, VA and Teresa McCray of Wilson, NC; five brothers, Donnie Ray Harris (Brenda) of Wilson, NC, Jesse Anthony Harris  of Atlanta, GA, Willie Harris  of Raleigh, NC, Deryl Harris (Gwendolyn)  of Bailey, NC and Timothy Harris (Beverly)  of Bailey, NC; four aunts, Thelma Jones, Mary Jane, Shirley Edwards and  Fannie Barnes; two uncles, Donnie Bynum and Bill Artis; her sisters-in-law, Eloise Adams and Mattie Williams; her brothers-in-law, Henry Sherrod (Patricia), Gary Sherrod (Maria), Thomas Sherrod (Shirley), Richard Sherrod (Delores) , and Melvin Sherrod; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

A public viewing will be Friday from 2 pm to 4:30 pm at Carrons Funeral Home, 726 South Tarboro Street, Wilson.  An inspirational wake will be Friday, October 16, 2020 from 6 pm to 7 pm at Rountree Missionary Baptist Church, Wilson.  The family is receiving friends at the residence and will assemble there at 10 am on Saturday in preparation for the funeral procession.
