Nora A. Jones

Ms. Nora A. Jones, age 101, of Wilson transitioned from labor to reward on Monday, May 18, 2020.  Funeral service will be held Monday, May 25, 2020 at 12 noon at St. John AME Zion Church, Wilson.  Interment will follow in Rest Haven Cemetery.

Mrs. Nora Allen Mitchell Jones was proceeded in death by her parents, Alice Bess Mitchell and Frank Mitchell; her husband, Walter Jones, Sr.; and her granddaughter, Teresa Jones. Nora leaves to cherish her precious memories her daughter, Gwendolyn Jones Shepard (Reginald); son, Walter Jones, Jr.; daughter/granddaughter whom she raised, Samantha Jones-Woodard (Willie); granddaughter, Telessa Jones Gabriel (Guy); grandsons, Jonathan Shepard and  Derrick Wilson; eight great-grandchildren, Lamont, Diamond, Jasmine, Dominique, Demetrius, Guy Jr., Joshua, and Madelyn; five great-great grandchildren, Zayden, La’Mya, Princess, Lamont Jr., Royal, and Samira. People whom she loved like her very own, Paula Fisher, Mary Joyce Farmer, Josephine Hooper, Melvin Coley, Carl Utley, Daniel Brown, Jr., and Willard Williams; a special godson, who was close and dear to her heart, Derwood Jones; her dearest friends, Julia Mae Barnes and Sandra Watts; her special in-law, Louvinia Shepard; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
