Major Elton Ray Coley, age 79, of 1201 Bermuda Road, Rocky Mount, NC was called to his eternal rest on Sunday, May 16, 2021. A celebration of his life and work will be Saturday at 11 am at L.N. Forbes Original Free Will Baptist Tabernacle, 1800 Bishop L.N. Forbes Street, Wilson. Pastor Charles Howard will deliver the eulogy, and Rev. Velecia Williams will preside. Interment will follow in Rest Haven Cemetery.
He leaves to cherish his precious memories his devoted daughter, Christy C. Arnold of the home; three grandsons, Jaylon Arnold of Durham, NC, Jaquavius Arnold of Winston Salem, NC, and Jahmez Arnold of the home; brothers, Reverend Peter Coley (Reverend Dr. Nel) of Manassas, VA, Reverend Isaac Coley (Elaine) of Cameron, NC, and Charles Coley of Wilson, NC; his brother-in-law, Bishop Don Batts (Gail) of Rocky Mount, NC; sister-in-law Lina Batts of Elm City, NC; a godson, Levi Williams, Jr., of Charlotte, NC; special nieces, Sylvia Coley of Durham, NC and Linda Faye Newell of Wilson, NC; close friends, George Noland of Lawton, Oklahoma, and Bobby Saunders of Fayetteville, NC; his caregivers, April Lavender, Heather Coley, Rosalyn Armstrong, and Michele Norman; a host nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
A public viewing will be held Friday from 3 pm to 6 pm at Carrons Funeral Home, 726 South Tarboro Street, Wilson. The family is receiving friends at the residence and will assemble there at 9:30 am on Saturday in preparation for the funeral procession.
