Johnny Van Ellis, 90, of 1731 Hillcrest Drive, Wilson, was called home to eternal rest on Wednesday, Nov. 24, 2015. A celebration of his life and work will be held noon Saturday at St. John Apostolic Holiness Church, 5449 Central Road, Black Creek. Overseer John Hart will officiate. Interment will follow in Rest Haven Cemetery, Veterans Section.
Loving memories are forever cherished by his daughters, Etta Van Williams (Roland), and Etta Van Ellis, all of Wilson, and Tykisha Young of Newark, New Jersey; his son, Johnnie Ellis Whitley (Sandra) of Greenville; one goddaughter, Peggy Nunn (Gene) of Irvington, New Jersey; one godson, Elder Albert Daughteridge of Wilson; 12 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; four nieces; eight great-nieces; one great-nephew; and a host of other relatives and friends.
A viewing will be held from 10:45 to 11:45 a.m. Saturday at St. John Church. The family will receive friends at the residence and will assemble there at 11 a.m. Saturday in preparation for the funeral procession.
