Dorene Kurney

Ms. Dorene Kurney, age 55, of 6635 Wall Street, Sims, NC was called to eternal rest on Monday, March 5, 2018.  She was the daughter of the late William Richard Kurney and Mildred Cleo Williams Kurney. Dorene was also preceded in death by two sisters, Diane Brathwaite and Nora Kearney and one brother, William Arthur Kearney.

Precious memories are forever cherished by her son, Travis Willie Ward (Christina) of Elm City, NC; four sisters, Paulette Stephens (Roland) of Charlotte, NC, Dorelene Kurney of Black Creek, NC, Teresa Kurney of Sims, NC and Margie Whitley of San Diego, CA; four brothers, James Curney of Brooklyn, NY, Larry Kurney of Sims, NC, Stanley Kurney of Knightdale, NC and George Kurney of Lucama, NC; five grandchildren, Travis, Amilleya, William, Khloe all of Elm City, NC and Malachi of Lucama, NC; three aunts, Oralene Farmer of Marlboro Heights, MD, Daisy Darden of Elm City, NC and Lillie Kurney; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral service will be held 3 pm Sunday, March 11, 2018 at Flat Rock Church of Christ Disciples of Christ, 6730 Flat Rock Road, Sims.  Elder Donald Loftin will deliver the eulogy, and Dr. Doris Maddox will preside.  Please remember the Kurney Family during their hours of bereavement.
