A celebration of the life and work of Annie L. Barnes age 97 of 6754 Main St, Saratoga, North Carolina who passed Thursday, May 17, 2012 at The Brain Center of Wilson will be held Friday at 1 pm at Piney Grove Missionary Baptist Church 7851 NC Hwy 222, Saratoga. The Rev. Richard Mercer will officiate. Interment will follow in Rest Haven Cemetery.
Annie was the daughter of the late Osborne and Rebecca Ann Lane Horne. She was a faithful and dedicated member of Piney Grove Church, Saratoga where she served as a mother.
Her kind, humble, soft spoken and gentle spirit will be missed all who knew and loved her.
Precious memories are cherished by her daughters, Annie Barnes Williams (James) who was also her caregiver of the home, Dorothy Page of Wilson, NC, Thelma Barnes Stokes of Patterson, NJ and Janice Barnes Speight of Mt. Vernon, NY; her sons, Albert Barnes of Virginia and Otis L. Barnes of Wilson, NC; three grandchildren whom she reared, Donnie Ray Barnes, Sr. of the home, Patrick Barnes of San Antonio, TX and Melvin D. Barnes of Stantonsburg, NC; a special great granddaughter, Tyliyah Barnes of the home; twenty-five grandchildren, sixty-four great grandchildren, fifteen great-great grandchildren, one aunt, one sister-in-law, a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
A viewing will be held Thursday from 3 pm to 8:30 pm at Carrons Funeral Home with the family receiving friends there from 7 pm to 8 pm. They will receive friends at all other times at the residence and will assemble there one hour prior to service in preparation for the funeral procession.
