Our Story | Carrons Commitment to our Community

Our Story

Robert M. King, Sr. spent over 40 years building a family-owned funeral home, one of the oldest African-American owned funeral homes in the state, with deep roots in the Wilson community.   In an age where as many as 60% of the historically black-owned funeral homes have been acquired by large corporations, we pledge that Carrons will continue to be family owned and operated by an African-American family, with roots in this community.

Carrons will continue to build on the legacy of the late King & Darden owner, Robert M. King, Sr.   In an effort to continue to build on his 40-year heritage, during the last years of his life, Mr. King focused his efforts on teaching his daughters, Carla King Horne and Laverne King Wiley the funeral service business.  Mr. King’s dream was to continue his legacy of providing quality funeral service to Wilson and surrounding communities.
